Master of Montessori education, Loyola University: coursework completed summer 2019, graduation pending

Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, English/Communications

I'm more experienced than I might seem, having spent almost two decades working flexibly in arts and media in the vibrant and competitive city of Portland, Oregon before coming to Oak Run. I've been a magazine writer and editor, worked on a feature film crew, published and licensed music, and when necessary, done fast-paced customer service. Rest assured that I bring insights from a long work history into my fairly-new classroom. New teacher, old soul.

Hi, Oak Run Students and Parents! You may call me "Miss Anne."

This is my second year at Oak Run. I started my elementary teaching career here in 2018-2019, and I'm delighted to return and continue my work. I'm an ardent believer in the Montessori methods of "Cosmic Education," which means helping children discover how every subject is connected to their experience...and the world...and the universe! In my classroom, we share a lot of songs and stories! We conduct many spirited discussions! And every day, we do meaningful work, practicing our skills and expanding our knowledge.

The goals are broad, yet the lessons and language are precise and particular. We maintain an orderly environment, where every supply has a designated place. We manage our speaking volume and attention to suit the learning circumstances and the needs of others. And whenever we can, we encourage and uplift one another with positive communication. The more organized we can be, the more we can fill our days with learning.

I enjoy every child's unique personality and gifts! I make an effort every day to find the right lessons and materials to spark their interests. Teaching is my life's work.
