Dear Oak Run Families and Community,
The anticipation of new beginnings always brings a special kind of energy, and the start of a new school year is no exception. As we prepare to launch the 2026–2027 school year, I am both honored and excited to be the superintendent of Oak Run Elementary School District.
My name is Dan Moore, and I am privileged to serve as the part-time Superintendent of Oak Run Elementary School District. I bring over 16 years of experience as a superintendent in small- and mid-sized districts. My journey in education includes eight years as Superintendent/Principal in two Eastern Sierra districts, followed by serving as Superintendent of Banta Elementary. Most recently, I retired from my role as Superintendent of Linden Unified School District. Throughout my career, I’ve also served in various roles, including Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Director of Child Welfare and Attendance, school principal, and classroom teacher for grades 2 through 6. Additionally, I’ve been fortunate to teach Organizational Leadership at Simpson University and Human Resources for the Chief Business Officer Program at UC Riverside.
This year’s theme at Oak Run ESD is “Dream Big, Dance On.” It’s about imagination, resilience, showing up for each other, and celebrating the wins, big or small, with a little bit of that Snoopy happy dance energy. As a united team, we have the opportunity to fuel the hopes of our students, build a positive school culture, and support each other as professionals and individuals. So this year, let’s give ourselves permission to dream a little bigger, laugh a little more, and lean on each other—and let’s have a great year! I genuinely believe our district should be a place where children can still be children—safe, inspired, and engaged in a high-quality education. As a community, I know you value your local school, and we hope that Oak Run Elementary will continue to be a part of the community for many years to come. Together, we can make Oak Run Elementary one of the best small schools in Northern California!
Oak Run ESD is proud to offer multiple educational pathways, from full-time on-campus attendance to a dynamic and supportive homeschool cohort, each designed to meet the diverse needs of our families.
If you have any questions or would like to connect, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me via email at dmoore@oakrunschool.org or call my office at (530) 472-3241. I also invite you to visit during my open office hours, which are held every Wednesday from 3:00 to 4:30 PM, or feel free to schedule an alternative time that works for you. I deeply value the role of parents and families in education and believe that your voices should be heard, respected, and included in the decision-making process.
It is truly a privilege to serve the students, families, and community of Oak Run. Let’s work together to dream big and dance on.
Sincerely,
Dan Moore
